Lung damage from treatment can reduce your lungs’ ability to expand and thus the air they can hold (restrictive lung disease). Lung growth and chest size can be affected. Treatment can also cause scarring in the lungs (pulmonary fibrosis). Obstructive lung disease (narrowing of the airways) can also occur after treatment for childhood cancer.
