Brain cancer in children is notoriously hard to treat – a new mRNA cancer vaccine triggers an attack from within.

In an analysis from the Children’s Oncology Group phase III AALL1131 study reported in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Alexander et al found that exposure to propofol was associated with an increased risk of impairment in reaction time/processing speed at 1 year after treatment in children with high-risk B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL).

While overall cancer risk was no different for children born after fertility treatments compared with those naturally conceived, frozen or fresh embryo transfer did appear to increase risk of leukemia, according to a French cohort study.

To wrap up the inaugural National Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Month, the Biden Cancer Moonshot announced new actions to prevent cancer before it starts and expand access to cancer screenings, including an initiative by Teen Cancer America to educate its 25,000+ readers about advances in prevention and early detection.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital scientists have identified specific DNA variants in the non-coding regions of the genome contributing to chemotherapy resistance in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).

They had the same name. The same childhood cancer. They lost touch – then reunited.

Announcing a new Childhood Cancer Data Initiative (CCDI)–related Request for Proposals (RFP). The RFP invites proposals from organizations able to perform molecular profiling using specimens from children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer. Submissions will be accepted until 3:00 p.m. ET on June 14, 2024.
