Assorted News from the Last Week:

The simple act of asking young patients about their symptoms regularly during cancer treatment can help them get more supportive care and reduce distressing side effects, according to the results of two new clinical trials.

A simple change to the chemotherapy regimen for people with Hodgkin lymphoma could reduce the long-term health impacts that can result from treatment.

Indian researchers are working on developing less expensive treatment for children’s blood cancers.

Frequent copy number gain of MCL1 is a therapeutic target for osteosarcoma.

The survival rate for children high risk neuroblastoma could one day be improved by adding an existing drug—which is currently used to manage excess copper in the body—to their treatment.

Each bill has a specific ask and easy-to-follow steps to make your voice heard in support of these important pieces of legislation.

Have you seen any outstanding examples of cancer journalism in any media recently? AACR has extended the deadline to Dec 20! Winners are announced at the AACR Annual meeting. The AACR Biedler Prize webpage (https://www.aacr.org/…/the-aacr-june-l-biedler-prize…/) provides information regarding the guidelines and a “Submit a Story” button/link in the green box. [NOTE: This page indicates that the deadline is December 9th but AACR is extending it to December 20th].

The Grayson Foundation and The American Childhood Cancer Organization are partnering to bring a Childhood Cancer Awareness specialty license plate to Tennessee residents.  While Tennessee has several children’s hospital license plates, it does not have a general childhood cancer awareness license plate with a gold ribbon.  This is a simple way to honor all the young warriors across the state who are in treatment, in remission, or in Heaven.  The state requires 1,000 preorders before they will begin to produce and issue the new tag.  Will you please help us by sharing this information with your contacts in Tennessee?  If we do not reach 1,000 preorders by 6/30/25, the tag won’t happen.  The link to preorder a license tag is: https://s.acco.org/Reserve-TN-Plate
